Am I a Candidate?
Weight-loss surgery has been performed in the U.S. for more than 65 years, and it has helped millions of people.
You might be a candidate for weight loss surgery if:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You do not drink alcohol in excess.
- Your BMI is between 35 and 39 with one or more associated serious medical conditions. This includes high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obstructive sleep apnea, heart disease, osteoarthritis, lipid abnormalities and gastrointestinal disorders.
- You have a BMI of 40 or greater (usually 100 pounds or more overweight).
- Struggle with an obesity-related condition like sleep apnea.
- You’ve attempted to lose weight through diet, exercise, behavioral changes and other methods with short-term success.
- You are psychologically prepared for weight loss surgery and the commitment it takes to adhere to a new lifestyle.

Take a Bariatric Assessment
Maybe you’re struggling with severe obesity, and despite your best efforts, repeated attempts at dieting and exercise just haven't worked. If that describes you, a bariatric (weight loss) procedure may be the solution. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), weight loss surgery is the most effective route to battle severe obesity and maintain long-term weight loss—but it also must be combined with a treatment plan.
Weight loss is a journey, and we want to be by your side every step of the way. We don’t just want to see you maintain long-term weight loss—we also want you to experience a notable improvement in your overall health. Through dietary counseling, behavior modification, exercise, support groups and bariatric surgery, we can do more than help reduce weight. We can help you change your life.
