Breastfeeding Your Baby
Did you know that breastfeeding your baby is a great way to give your little one a head start in life? Babies are born with an instinct to find their mother's breast and to nurse within the first hour of life! However, despite the fact that breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world, many new moms and babies often find that it can be difficult. When additional support is needed, our team is here for you. Bravera Baby Place is proud to support breastfeeding mothers with lactation services.
Benefits of Breastfeeding
Breast milk is not only easier for an infant to digest, but it also provides the cells, hormones and the antibodies needed to fight illness. Breast milk actually changes and delivers all of the nutritional support your baby needs as he or she ages and encounters new germs.
According to the American Academy of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, other benefits of breastfeeding may include:
- Lower risk of SIDS
- Baby and mother are less likely to be obese
- Increased antibody response to vaccines
- Saved cost of formula
- Reduced risk of childhood cancers
- Long-term disease fighting abilities
There can be benefits for moms who breastfeed, as well. Breastfeeding may protect moms from the risks of developing type 2 diabetes, postpartum depression and breast and ovarian cancers. Additionally, many breastfeeding mothers find that breastfeeding helps reduce pregnancy weight, while also expediting recovery from delivery.
