Bravera Health’s Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive Collects 233 Jars of Peanut Butter for Jericho Food Barn and St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry

BROOKSVILLE, FLORIDA – To help address hunger in our community, and in celebration of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day on April 2, Bravera Health has donated 233 jars of peanut butter (and other nut butters) to Jericho Food Barn and St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
All of that peanut butter was donated by Bravera Health’s employees, medical staff and board members, and volunteers during the recent Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive.
According to the most recent data from 2019 at FLHealthCharts.gov, more than 15 percent of residents in Hernando County struggle to put food on the table. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive was launched to help support individuals who are facing food insecurity, which is a social determinant of health.
“Food insecurity has a significant impact on a person’s overall health and wellbeing,” said Josh DeTillio, CEO. “Through our Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, we are working to help fight hunger in our community. Our generous employees really stepped up to be sure we could stock the shelves at two of our local food banks.”
Peanut butter is one of the most requested items for food banks because it is highly nutritious and has a long shelf life. Unfortunately, many food banks in America report it is also one of the least donated food items. Food and other items needed by food banks include canned goods, boxed pasta and rice, jarred or canned meats and fish, fruit cups and applesauce, cereal, baby food and formula, diapers, wipes and essential hygiene items including razors, combs, sunscreen, toilet paper and tissues.
“On behalf of Jericho Road Ministries, we are so grateful for everyone who gave items to help restock our food barn. It's generous hearts like these that allow us to continue helping the hungry, homeless and hurting in our community,“ said April Gordon, director of development for Jericho Road Ministries.
“At St. Vincents', we have a pledge to live by each day-live with compassionate common sense; and if you cannot choose between one or the other of those options, then choose compassion every time,” said Tim Rumptz of St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
